Tony Woodward

Tony was first introduced to Christ in his early 30s in Sydney. He later spent several years sailing through Queensland waters and during this time he came to know the Lord through fellowship and Bible study and was also quickly baptised.

Tony completed Bible College and afterwards was led to begin Church Planting with his wife through the Queensland Baptists Missions to QLD arm in North QLD. During this time Tony suffered a devastating and irreparable marriage breakup and eventually moved to Logan. 

After a number of years, he met and later married Nita, and they spent six years pastoring at Kingsridge Baptist Church in Logan City, also ministering to the Cambodian Church where he continues to preach each month.

They also pastored for seven years at Cannon Hill (later to become partnered with Birkdale Baptist) taking Cannon Hill through a transformation process, working with the Baptist Union. This resulted in Cannon Hill building up into a thriving congregation under the leadership of Birkdale Baptist Church.

Tony has been at Beenleigh Baptist church for six years and during that time he has been in an administration role. He contributes to a Bible Prophesy Life Group, supports other Bible study, and is regularly involved in street ministry in both Brisbane City and Beenleigh.  

He has organised prayer events, including a week-long prayer ministry at the church, and is actively involved in our weekly Saturday morning prayerHe also ensures people stay connected through prayer notes as well as taking communion with homebound people who are unable to get to church.

Elected an Elder of the church, Tony oversees one of Beenleigh Baptist four key areas – Authentic Community and all ministries that sit under this with direct accountability to the church leadership for this area.

Tony is married to Nita, a godly woman who leads a SOAP Bible study, is gifted in music ministry, administrative workand vocationally works at Creation Ministries. They have 8 children between them and nine grandchildren. 

Tony credits his personal journey all to his relationship with Jesus and the support of his wonderful wife, who is a fellow traveller, acknowledging that prayer binds them together.
